Eduardo Verchez Garcia, commonly known as Eddie Garcia, was a Filipino actor and director who was considered one of the greatest Filipino actors of his generation. Born on May 2, 1929, in Sorsogon, Philippines, Garcia had a career in show business that spanned over seven decades.
Garcia began his acting career in the 1950s and appeared in over 600 films and television shows throughout his career. He was known for his versatility as an actor, being able to portray a wide range of characters from villains to comedic roles to dramatic performances.
Garcia won numerous awards for his acting, including multiple FAMAS Awards (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards) and Gawad Urian Awards. In 2018, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences.
